Industrial Pollution Control
Environmental Health officers are responsible for inspecting and permitting certain industrial activities which have the potential to cause air pollution.
The permit is in effect a licence allowing the holder to operate a process subject to certain conditions.
The purpose of the permit system is to control, limit or prevent the emission of certain prescribed substances and other products from those processes.

Local Authorities are responsible for the following 11 categories of processes:
Any person who intends to operate an installation that requires a permit must submit a Permit Application Form and a fee.

After considering the application, Lisburn City Council will issue a permit in accordance with Government Guidance.
The permit will contain conditions which set out how the installation should be operated to keep air quality pollution to a minimum.
